There is an old expression, “grasping at straws” that I have come to a greater appreciation of this past week.
As a refresher to those of us who haven’t heard this expression in a while, I went ahead and pulled out its definition.
Grasping at straws - This idiom (expression) refers to a drowning person grabbing any floating object, even a straw, to save themselves.
There are times in my life where I despair. Times where I wonder why in the world I am doing what I am doing. For truly, the Christian life is grueling and draining.

Is there any hope for the human race? This is a question that has been plaguing me as of late. One only has to be in the world for a few moments to realize how human beings are so sinful, depraved, twisted, evil and selfish.

Life is short, incredibly short and very, very fragile.
I was reminded of this recently when I picked up a friend from the hospital.
Why? Why are we here? Who are we living for? What is our purpose in life? Where is true meaning found? How do we measure success? What gets us up in the morning?
These are questions that every person faces in their life. The answers to these questions will determine how we live our lives, what we value, and where we invest our time and resources.

Go. It is the last and final command of our Savior and Lord to His disciples while He was on this earth.
Chances are, we are all extremely familiar with this command. Therein lies the problem. One of the most dangerous things that can happen to a believer is this word called “familiarity.” We hear something so often and so regularly that we become immune, in a way, to this or that glorious truth or in this case, a command of Christ.
