2017 and BOJF

2016 is officially behind us. It was a great year for us here at BOJF. Not necessarily because of all the projects God allowed us to accomplish, though we do praise Him for that!
Rather, it was a great year because my team and I got to draw even closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When you have Jesus, there is no such thing as a bad year or a bad day. Jesus truly is enough, in the good times and the bad. Besides, we have the assurance as believers that God works all things for the good of those who love Him. (Romans 8:28)
Yet, as another year looms on the horizon, we have taken some time at BOJF to prayerfully consider the future of BOJF in 2017. By God's grace, 2017 looks like it will be another great year for the ministry of BOJF and we look forward to sharing some exciting announcements in the weeks to come.
Yet, that is not what we are most excited to share with you. Rather we are overly excited to share our focus and theme for 2017 here at BOJF!
Our desire and focus for the upcoming year could be summed up in four words:
Those four words are the words we desire to motivate every action of BOJF in 2017. Though these themes have always played a role in our ministry, we desire to zero in on them even more so this year.
As Christians our first and foremost goal in life is to draw closer to our Lord and Savior. The closer we are to Him, the better. A good film begins with a solid relationship with Jesus Christ. Apart from Him, a film cannot have any true, lasting, or eternal impact. We absolutely enjoy the ministry God has given to us through BOJF, yet this ministry is not our highest goal or calling in this life, Jesus is. If drawing closer to Him this year means we make more films, by His grace we will do so. If it means making less films this year, we are in. If it means making not even a single film this year, we are willing to go that direction as well. Wherever Christ leads, we are going to follow. Dear friends, Christ is indeed enough! I can testify to this in my own life! (Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37)
As Christians we have been saved from an eternity in Hell and we desire to see others come to know Christ as we know Him. Here at BOJF, we desire to reach out on an even larger scale to a lost and dying world in need of Jesus. We intentionally want to make films that reach out to a lost culture who will be drawn to view them, while we still uncompromisingly proclaim truth. Our approach might be slightly different and you might notice some changes in our forthcoming films or even different styles this year, yet rest assured the message will not change. Truth is truth and we aren't going to compromise, yet we are willing to follow the Lord in doing whatever we can to reach as many people as possible with the truth.
We are just called to scatter the seed of the gospel and in the year of 2017 we want to cast 100, no, a 1,000, nay, immeasurably more seed then we cast the past year. Time is so short and there are so many who will never know Jesus. We don't have time to waste, so every film will be used as a means to proclaim the life-giving message of the gospel! Onward to battle Christian soldiers! (Ephesians 6:10-18, Matthew 28:18-20)
We want to link arms with as many Christian filmmakers as possible in our own film projects as well as their projects and even creating projects collaboratively. We are here to serve in any way we can! We have always been big on collaboration, yet by God's grace we are going to expand our collaboration this year immensely. We want to encourage and build up the fellow Christian filmmaker, whether they have been in film for five decades or five days. Proclaiming the gospel takes an army, it isn't just a one man job. We realize that and we want to assist our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ any way we can! God gave us fellow believers all over the world so we can encourage and build one another up and that is exactly what we want to do this year! So if there is any way we can assist you this year in filmmaking, please let us know! We are here to serve, not be served!
Let us be the body of Christ! We are not isolated islands, we are all connected as one body with one head, Christ. As the Word of God says, if one part of the body of Christ suffers, we all suffer, and if one member is honored, we all rejoice with that member. (1 Corinthians 12:26, Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Peter 4:10, Ephesians 4:29)
We desire to continue to develop our skills in the areas of talent and gifts God has given to each of us. God has given each of us gifts and talents to serve and honor His name with, which we also are to use to serve the body of Christ and others. We don't want to get slack or lazy in our skills, rather we want to continue to hone them and sharpen them so we might serve the Lord even better. One never stops learning in life. There is always something else to be learned and/or refined. We desire to always have a teachable spirit rather then becoming set in our ways. We are always open to learn and grow in our talents and gifts. (Matthew 25:14-30, Psalm 90:17)
By God's grace, these are the four goals we are laying down at BOJF for the year of 2017. We wanted to share them with all of you to give you an idea of what is going on here behind the scenes of BOJF. Also, as we make changes throughout the year, we want to help you understand the motive behind them.
We pray that you will help keep us accountable in walking out and living these goals through this ministry and in our everyday lives. We each only get one life to live and only what is done for Christ will last! May we each live life to the full for the glory and honor of God alone!
Thank you for your continued support of this ministry! May God bless each of you richly this year and may we all draw closer to Him through it!
To God alone be the glory throughout all generations forever and ever! Amen!
In the bonds of Christ,
